‘Tractor of the Year®’ Award Winner is equipped by FPT Industrial for the second year running

For the second year running, FPT Industrial has again powered the winner of the prestigious 2015 Tractor of the Year® (TOTY) title, assigned to the CASE IH Magnum 380 CVX.

The TOTY award was established in 1998 by Italian magazine Trattori and recognises the European tractor that offers the best in performance. The jury consists of around 20 European journalists, representing the most influential agricultural magazines; last year, the members of the jury awarded the Claas Axion 850 tractor, powered by an FPT N67 engine.

Magnum 380 CVX tractors are equipped with FPT Industrial’s Cursor 9 engine. Part of the world-renowned Cursor Series, the engine family offers high power, fast throttle response, low fuel consumption and low running costs, making the units suitable for heavy-duty applications such as heavy agricultural vehicles.

The Cursor 9 is a 8.7-litre, six-cylinder, in-line engine with variable geometry turbo and state-of-the-art Common Rail injection system, which allows the engine to deliver a power output of up to 320 kW (435 hp) and to produce up to 1,850 Nm of torque.

The adoption of FPT’s patented HI-eSCR system ensures compliance with Stage IV/Tier 4 Final emission regulations without employing Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) or a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). The efficient after-treatment system allows powertrains to reach a Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) conversion rate of more than 95% without any direct impact on performance, operating costs or dimensions.

The technology has been proven in over 450,000 units since 2005 across various applications. The success of HI-eSCR is due to the system’s high flexibility as it does not require changes to the cooling pack system used in Tier 4 Interim solutions.

During 2014 FPT Industrial engines obtained many important awards on an international basis: in May, at SaMoTer in Verona, the prestigious DIESEL OF THE YEAR® 2014 title was bestowed on FPT’s Cursor 16 engine. Meanwhile, the ‘International Van of the Year’ 2015 title was awarded to the F1 Series-equipped new Iveco Daily at the 65th edition of the IAA Commercial Vehicles exhibition in Hannover, Germany.
