FPT Industrial at the 54th Genoa International Boat Show



FPT Industrial presented its range of marine engines from 85 to 825 hp at the 54th Genoa International Boat Show (Power Village, Stand M127) through its main Italian dealers: Bimotor, Naval Motor Botti, Nautica Marongiu, Cerdiesel and A.S. Labruna.

FPT Industrial products are dedicated to professional and recreational boats, complete with control and monitoring systems. They can be coupled with straight-shaft propulsion systems, stern drives, ZF Pod drives and sail drives, and can equip speed boats for coastal patrols, passenger transport boats such as the waterbuses of Venice, recreational motor boats and large sail boats.

Through constant research and development, carried on in the six FPT’s R&D centers in Europe, China, North and South America, all of these vessels can benefit from a range of engines that offer the highest power-to-capacity ratio available on the market.

The high performance and reliability of FPT’s engines is also reflected in the choice of the Genoa Pilots Corp to equip their new boat ‘Borea’ with two FPT C90 20 Cursor Series engines, allowing them to operate 24 hours a day in all weather and sea conditions.

The constant activity of the pilots, the required speed of their interventions and the sudden demand for both power and rapid deceleration mean that it is fundamental for the engines to be extremely performing, fast in transient response and reliable.

Cursor Engines C13 825 and C90 650

The two engines from the renowned Cursor Series offer a capacity of 8.7 and 12.9 litres respectively, with a six-cylinder in-line configuration. The C90 650 uses the latest generation electronically controlled Common Rail fuel injection system, with the rail integrated in the head cover; while the C13 825 is equipped with unit injectors. These features offer substantial benefits to both engines in terms of efficiency and low noise levels.

The air handling system in both the C90 and C13 features a water-cooled fixed geometry turbocharger with a waste gate valve and intercooler.

This solution enables the C90 650 to reach a maximum power output of 650 hp at 2,530 rpm, with a torque of 2,150 Nm at 1,700 rpm, making it the market leader in its category. Meanwhile, the C13 825 has a power output of 825 hp and a torque of 2,625 Nm at 1800 rpm.

Both engines, on the basis of which the Caterpillar Cat® C8.7 and Cat® C12.9 engines were developed, have extremely low fuel consumption figures and comply with the main international emission regulations.

NEF N67 570 engine

This engine’s main parameters, such as the power-to-weight ratio (1.14 kg/hp), the power-to-capacity ratio (84.4 hp/litre) and the volume-to-power ratio (1.31 dm3/cv), confirm its class-leading position. The N67 570 has a six cylinder in-line configuration with a 6.7 litre capacity, four valves per cylinder, latest generation electronically controlled Common Rail injection technology and turbocharging with a waste gate valve and intercooler. The engine block and ‘ladder frame’ (structural strengthening) have proven their reliability in the many speed and endurance races won by this engine.

N45 100 and N67 280 engines

Excellent cost management and diversity of applications, with both recreational and light commercial uses, are the key features of these two models with four and six-cylinder in-line engines, featuring two valves per cylinder and mechanical fuel injection. Both engines offer low fuel consumption, emissions and vibrations, as well as low maintenance costs.
