Bucher Municipal CityCat 5006 to be powered by FPT Industrial’s N45 Engine

Leading powertrain supplier FPT Industrial has signed a contract to supply its market-leading N45 engine to Bucher Municipal, for use within its CityCat 5006 sweeper.

The N45 engine is part of FPT Industrial’s NEF Series and has been developed to meet Euro VI emission legislation with the four-cylinder, in-line N45 engine enabling a reduction in fuel consumption, while still maintaining high performance. The engine delivers outputs of 118 kW and provides 750 Nm of torque in the 1,400 to 1,800 rpm range.

The Euro VI compliant engine is equipped with an innovative High Efficiency Selective Catalytic Reduction (HI-eSCR) after-treatment system, which has been developed by FPT Industrial and is designed to reduce emissions of Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) by more than 95%. Even with the exhaust after-treatment system, the engine weighs less than its main competitors, ensuring a higher payload of the vehicle compared to the market standard.

“Bucher Municipal is a very prestigious brand with a long tradition of manufacturing municipal vehicles,” said Massimo Siracusa, Vice President of Product Engineering at FPT Industrial. “We are very proud to have been chosen to supply state-of-the-art N45 engines for the CityCat 5006. This contract is further recognition for FPT Industrial’s innovative, reliable and cost-effective solutions for its customers. We look forward to making this long-term contract a success.”

Rolf Huber, Head of Sales & Marketing at Bucher Municipal, said, “The CityCat 5006 compact sweeper represents a milestone within the market due to its exceptional basic construction and use of pioneering technology. We therefore needed a market-leading engine for the sweeper that could not only meet the required emission levels but also meet customer requirement in terms of fuel consumption and performance. It’s for these reasons that we chose the N45 engine. This agreement will help ensure Bucher Municipal continues to provide some of the most innovative products on the market.”

Bucher Municipal is a market leader in the production of municipal vehicles that are designed for the road cleaning and snow clearance of public and private areas. Bucher Municipal is one of the five divisions of the Bucher Group, the company has its own world-wide sales and dealership network.
