IVECO participated in the official inauguration of global energy supplier Shell’s first LNG Retail station in Germany. Located in the south of Hamburg, strategically placed near the Hamburg Süd motorway interchange and motorway triangle, the station has the capacity to refuel more than 200 trucks a day. IVECO’s participation at the event is part of its collaboration with the energy company to promote the development of the alternative fuels network in Germany.
Pierre Lahutte, IVECO Brand President, spoke at the event, thanking Shell for its commitment to developing the infrastructure needed for the successful transition to alternative traction vehicles in transport: “Shell embraces our strategy and shares our belief in the key role that natural gas has to play in the de-carbonisation of the transport industry. IVECO has the answer today for every business and every mission with a full offering of natural gas vehicles, from LCVs all the way to heavy long-haul trucks and buses. We see the demand of our Stralis NP truck increase exponentially in Western Europe, as a growing number of companies demand their logistics operators to deliver environmentally-friendly transport. For this trend to continue and natural gas to fulfil its potential, the necessary infrastructure needs to be in place In Germany and Central Europe. That is why our approach to sustainability extends to supporting the development of the refuelling station network through partnerships such as the one we have with Shell.”

Shell will also be at IVECO’s side at the IAA Commercial Vehicles (IAA) to promote the development of the networks of electric charging stations and CNG and LNG refuelling stations in Germany.
